Uncanny Origins #2: Quicksilver
Writer: Glenn Herdling
Pencils: Dave Hoover
Ink: Bill Anderson
Quicksilver has always been my favorite evil mutant. Something about being so freaking fast always got to me. I used to run track way back when and think maybe that had something to do with it. Regardless of my liking him, I never knew his origin story. Now I do.

Hellblazer #5: When Johnny Comes Marching Home
Writer: Jamie Delano
Artist: John Ridgeway
Yep, I’m still on this series and milking it for all it’s worth. I am yearning a bit more for some God/Devil interaction and perhaps some more demon-type battles. I suppose resurrections of old war heroes will have to do. Constantine as usual barely influences the situation while smoking/getting drunk, but things tend to work out alright. It’s really a good thing that hes watching out for mankind you know. The horrors of the Vietnam (and any war really) is quite apparent in the point the author is trying to make. (more…)
Last Spider-man Post . . . for awhile. thrown together by Dalton

This is the last time I will write about this book. I promise. The only problem is that I can’t stop reading it, and I never have enough time to read more than one issue within it. So I take that back because I have one more issue. But who knows, I may just read it without telling you and post about something new. I’m convinced that Brian Bendes is simply that good of an author.

Not The Right Pimp thrown together by Wilbur

Hellblazer #4 Waiting for the man
Writer: Jamie Delano
Artist: John Ridgeway
Ah the overly religious types always mess things up in the woods. I don’t care what the author meant, but this looks like a thinly veiled attack at Mormons and their loads of wives. Granted the Mormons, while not the most normal of sorts, dont strangle their 13 year old wives in front of a satanic portal. The usual ass kicking girl saves the day, how cliche these days. This is really a shame because most of the ass kicking girls in movies arn’t that memorable and are usually subjected to poor scripts and terrible plotlines.

Watch out for…..IT! thrown together by Allison

Adapted from Jerome Bixby’s screenplay by: Mark Ellis

Art Direction: Melissa Martin
After yesterday’s internet mishap, I feel enormously obliged to share with everyone the kick ass comic I read for today.
Today’s read is IT!: The Terror from Beyond Space, No. 1 and I have to say it was pretty rockin’. The story is about the first manned mission to Mars that goes wrong when the ship carrying astronauts ends up crashing upon entry. Of course, the people aboard are like, “Dude, let’s go check stuff out anyway and see what’s out here on Mars!” That’s not a real quote, but you get the idea. (more…)

Ultimate Spider-man #74
Same authors and illustrators from before
I’m sorry that I’m sticking to this Ultimate Spider-man book, but I really like it. If there’s any condolence, I have something completely new to talk about today. Aside from the seriousness of the plot (which it’s really good), there’s this one part where Mary Jane writes a note to Peter in class that says “Want to make out during lunch?” Note this, girls, because that’s a guy’s dream come true.

Uncanny Origins #1: Cyclops
Writer: Ben Raab
Ink: Bill Anderson
Maybe I should sent this book to Wil so he can learn a little bit of origin shiznit. Or maybe I shouldn’t because it’s so full of crappy ‘90 slang and colloquialisms. But regardless, I always enjoy reading “Origins” series; it’s fun to see different writers take on the same character. This was a take on Cyclops I had never seen before, but it was far outweighed by its ’90s cheesiness.

New Releases

It may sometimes seem like I put these Graham Crackers images on these posts because I’m obsessed with promoting the site, but the real reason is that I get a kick out of the variety of site logos they have. It’s always interested to keep refreshing their home page for shits and giggles. Anyway, the reference to this fine Illinois comic book chain is there for a reason; they’re the ones that provide us with this wonderful new release list. Will you be buying anything interesting? I kind of want Marvel Zombies 3 #1. Sounds redundant with the numbers, but it’s Marvel Zombies! How can I resist.
Mission post will be up later tonight. I’m not sure if I told you all, but I moved to Pacific Time, so that’s why my posts have been coming in later than usual. It’s like a daily surprise when the post will show up! We like to keep it fun that way. List is after the jump: (more…)
Slow Changes thrown together by Wilbur
So as you can see the site is developing some very slow changes. A few more tweaks and things will be looking even better. I will return on Wednesday for another not-so-holy adventure into Original Sins. Stay tuned for Dalton’s post tomorrow.
