Our job really isn’t to report, but I came across this article on comicbookmovie.com and thought you might get a kick out of it. Could be a rumor and completely false, but Johnny Depp? Phillip Seymour Hoffman? Sign me up!

Wait, nvm, rumor squashed: http://comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/5008.asp

I’ll let you decide!

Cool Little Site thrown together by Dalton

Enjoy supporting the little guy? Enjoy helping to launch a great idea? Well, we’ve found a site that you can not only do that, but you can also save money while supporting an inviting new concept about ordering comics.

We recently had the pleasure of meeting the owner of 1buckcomics.com, and we love the concept behind his site. Basically, you get bargain bin prices without the scouring through the bargain bins and also with the ability to actually get a complete set instead of trying to piece together a set one by one. It’s kind of like buying comics off of eBay without the hassle of bidding. So if you’re into collecting / reading up on back issues, we totally recommend checking this site out.

Sorry that we never got a post out today! You can call us lazy, or you can call us masters of testing your patience, but whatever you’d like to call us, you need not worry. Wil and I both had semi-Vacations the past week, so we’re kind of all discombobulated, but Wil will (that sounded funny) get out his post tomorrow (or today if you’re in ET or CT) and you’ll be able to read to your heart’s content (or until you’re done with the post). Unfortunately, our life consists more of reading comics and writing about them. That’d be pretty sweet if that’s all we had to do, but a man’s gotta earn a living, y’know?

Anyway, I leave you with this.

No More Heroes (Not the Video Game) thrown together by Dalton

I didn’t read a comic for today because I’m at away for the weekend and frankly, I forgot to buy a comic before leaving. But good news and bad news nonetheless! Let’s start with the good!

After about of month of scouring the internet for bloggers, we have hired a Weekend Writer, so now you can get your Unflappings fix 7 days a week, 365 days per year. What a deal! Our new writer’s name is Allison Fuhrmann. She is supremely awesome, and I’m sure you all will like her. Or at least you will grow to like her. Well, you better grow to like her because you’re stuck with her. Anyway — welcome, Allison!

Now the bad — I hate the television show Heroes. Seriously. There are many reasons behind this hatred, but I especially hate what it stands for and what it does to our society. Have you noticed how many people watch Heroes? A ton. Have you noticed how many of them go outside of Heroes to read comics and other comic related shit? Barely any. Have you noticed how many of them are adults that will scoff at you for reading a comic book that is essentially the same thing as watching Heroes but actually takes energy and using your mind to read opposed to watching a primetime show on television? Most. Beginning to see why I dislike it? Okay, but that’s not all.

The Greatest Golfer Who Never Lived
Author: J. Michael Vernon

Well, that wasn’t cool. I had this awesome post all strung together, and then wordpress lied and said it had been saved when apparently it hadn’t — good to know! That post had a sweet explanation of why Preacher Week has been put on hold, but now I’m frustrated, so I’ll give you a lame bulleted list version:

-I only have two posting days this week, and that’s not enough for Preacher week
-I did nothing to promote Preacher week in advance

So now I’m going to promote Preacher week as being next week. For today, I decided to do something a tid bit different.

Out at the poolside the other day, I was kind of bored, so I picked up a novel. Like a non-graphic novel. Or a graphic novel without graphics, if you will. I read it through it’s entirety and wanted to rant about something. I figured this would be a good place and that anyone reading this would be able to take a break away from reading about comics and engorge themselves on me hating on a writing style. Sound fun? Well, you have no choice.

    Forts thrown together by Wilbur

Since I am a lazy ass and haven’t even done a comic review this week. The reason is also because I try to hide my comic reading from those I live with. I’m a closet case, deal with it. I figure I better boggle your feeble minds with an even more grand story. Well of course I’m talking about every little boys dream of building a fantastic fort. Start out with just a sheet when you are real small, not knowing the half of it. Later you develop an infatuation with boxes and build the crap out of those for a while. Boxes are great, but they are preconstructed and therefore cheating. I would actually still totally use them if I had big enough boxes, but I dont fit in those anymore. So I will share with you today a few of my favorite fort designs of the past (and future) in brilliant paint glory. Read on.

    Cardboard thrown together by Wilbur

My absence was completely excuseable. This past weekend I drove interstate to build a boat completely out of cardboard and race it amongst the village people. No not the actual village people, but those in my native town. It may sound stupid, weird, illgoical, but thats exactly why I enjoy it. Also building a boat that supports 6-7 people in one night takes its toll, so I was relatively incapactiated.

Also to make up for my slackage, I have comic post coming a bit later today. I could put it up now but I need to configure my scanner or some shit. Point is, watch out.  I was actually thinking on my road trip journey on comics I would like to actually seek out and read. List incomplete but here goes:

Public Secrets thrown together by Dalton

Wil and I have both been too busy to read today, but I have a quick story you all might enjoy. Last night I was flipping through channels and there was a commercial for some show Tyra Banks does. She was interviewing Jessica Alba and they showed a clip of the upcoming episode. In the clip, Banks asks Alba about her pregnancy and then asks if she can hear the gender of the baby. Alba says no, but Tyra Banks presses on with this lovely quote:

“You can tell me” or something very close to those lines (it was late at night).

Now, is that not the dumbest tactic or what? Oh yeah, this one is totally between me and you. The live studio audience doesn’t mean shit and neither do the millions of viewers across the nation. Surely none of the them will hear you tell me over the microphone and television speakers giving them the urge to tell other people or post it on the internet or tell the chattiest chatty Kathy of all chatty Kathys. SURELY NOT! Yes, Jessica, just between you and me. I’ll make sure to keep it nice and safe in my lockbox.

Sheesh. Some TV personalities drive me nuts.
