About

Welcome to Unflappings, a blog about comics.

The site started out with two writers, Dalton and Wilbur. They were (and still are) normal people living in this normal world doing normal things. Before starting the website, Dalton had read and enjoyed comics for a good chunk of his life while Wil had hardly even touched one. In an effort to spice up their lives a bit, they decided to take on a task: reading a comic book every day and then writing after the experience. Whether or not that experience had anything to do with comics didn’t matter; it was the inspiration that would count.

After a couple of months of enjoyable blogging, Dalton and Wil hungered for more, and decided to make Unflappings an every-day-of-the-week, 365 days-a-year blog instead of the weekday blog that it was at the time. For this expansion, they brought Allison on board to handle the weekend shift. With her passion for the mission, opinionated personality, and different perspectives, she was an obvious addition to the team.

The hope of Unflappings is to show the intricacy of comics and the questions they can inspire. Similar to how video games are finally earning respect in the world as an all-ages media, we feel that comics should be seen in the same light. From Sandman to Spider-man, many, if not all, comics and their themes can be applied to the world we live in. So we plan to do that application!

One last thing is that the books for the posts are chosen randomly. Sometimes they’ll be ones we feel like reading; sometimes they’ll be backissues from the 50 cent box at our local store. We could read Marvel one day, and some kid from down the street’s comic the next. That’s part of the excitement! This is an experimentation of sorts, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we are. We would love to hear your comments, and if you’ve read the same issues, your own insight as well.

Enjoy!
