busy birthday weekend… thrown together by Allison
Filed under: Uncategorized
So I’m lame for not posting yesterday. But I felt obligated to at least let you all know why I didn’t post. Well, today is my birthday and as such, my weekend has been a bit insane. Yesterday I spent 8 hours at my favorite (and only acceptable) tattoo studio in southern Wyoming (big shout out to Skibos Tattoo and Chris F’N Haley). I went into the studio hoping for a simple, shoulder tattoo and somehow got talked into a half-sleeve. It was definitely not planned and it definitely hurt like a bitch. But it was worth it! (See below)
So my tattoo is of a sugar skull which is related to the holiday Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It’s a Mexican holiday that involves celebrating and offering gifts to your dead ancestors. It’s a very interesting holiday and it occurs on November 1st and 2nd. My birthday just happens to fall on November 2nd so I felt like getting this skull would be both symbolic of my weirdness and it would simultaneously pay homage to those who’ve come before me.
Anyways, my tattoo won’t be finished for many more months. I’m going to have to get it shaded and colored and that will take a long time. But you’re seeing the first stage here!
Also, as Halloween is my favorite holiday, I figured I’d include another really cool picture…
My dog Gatsby who is part Dachshund, part Border Collie, all hot dog…
Hope everyone had a Happy and safe Halloween!
