Hellblazer #3: Going For It
Writer: Jamie Delano
Penciler/Inker: John Ridgeway

A break from the usual hunger issues, John decides to snuff out the fart king.  Good ol’ Blathoxi, demonic Lord of Flatulence is the big guy up on the chopping block after he makes some bad decisions with soul trading. I didn’t realize there was a market for that, but then again what do I know about demonic economics. Having a title like that made me wonder about how best to insult a hellion to their face.Is calling them a “bile face” a shot or an actual compliment? From my understanding it seems to be permanent opposite day down there, as far as adjectives go. Although this rule gets suspended if someone from above comes down, since obviously telling a human they were going to “softly rub puppies all over” him would be a pretty lousy way to strike fear.  Then again when you threaten to kill a demon, do they take that as something good?  I mean the dying part would suck but they are all about death anyway, so what gives?  It’s a strange and tounge twisting land they have going on there, I think I could barely hold my verbal footing without saying the wrong thing and not insulting at the right time.

Constantine had the same situation and luckily got out of it, but not in the way you might think. In fact after all those threats, Blathoxi was so excited to hear someone talk such good about him that he just sauntered off and sold all of his soul shares. Sounds like a little bit of lingual limbo, but I respect anyone that can pull it off, especially with a double negative opposite day…land.
