Peter Parker: Spider-Man: One Small Break TPB (This post covers issue 27)
Writer: Paul Jenkins
Penciler: Mark Buckingham
Inkers: Green / Ramos / Buckingham

Batman is absurdly popular right now. Remember when Peter Parker used to be the cool cat on the block? I do, so when I saw a “Peter Parker: Spider-man” trade for sale for $5 the other day, I stacked it on to my pile of purchases and headed to the checkout line. I’ve read Amazing Spider-man, I’ve read Ultimate Spider-man, and I’ve read some other forms of Spider-man, but this was my first time hitting up the “Peter Parker” line of work. Unfortunately, this book starts on issue 27, so I was kind of pulling an in medias res, but I was quick to catch on. Something that caught my attention, though, was a typo on the back of the book.

As usual, I don’t have a scanner. I’m moving in two weeks, and don’t want to buy one until after the transition, but the back of the book says “All In a Days Work . . .” in big bold letters. Now class, what is grammatically incorrect about that sentence?

If you said the fact that there is no apostrophe in “Days,” then you are correct. Maybe that would make sense if it was like “All In a Days Inn,” but it’s not. It’s “a Day’s work.” It’s the day’s work. It’s possessive. It’s not a multiple amount of days and then just work. That doesn’t make any sense. Talk about a mega tongue twister.

Speaking of the back of the book, check this image out:

First of all, check out my sweet webcam techniques. The glare is still pretty rough, but I was able to minimize the damage. Anyway, do you happen to notice that Stromm is grabbing Spider-man’s leg? Does anyone else find that as entertaining as I do? Like, I had no idea they were fighting right there. I honestly thought they were just posing for a picture and then Dr. Stromm is all like, “I win this round, bitch.” Plus, is a leg really a smart place to grab something that shoots webs out of its wrist? Silly Stromm. Silly, silly, Stromm.

Wow, I’ve talked about the back cover so much that I hardly even remember the story. There was something else I wanted to comment on . . .

Ah, yes, Peter Parker looks like a greaser in this comic.

I would say, “Aw, that’s cool, it’s an old comic,” but it isn’t! I felt like I was reading the adventures of Pony Boy, not Peter Parker. Was that look cool in 2001? Isn’t it weird how styles change? We could probably all live much more comfortably if one thing was always in style, but that will never happen.

actually, Dalton, greasers ARE still cool…it just depends on who you talk to. me personally, i can’t think of anything hotter than a guy with sexy, greasy hair, rolled up jeans, tight black shirts, and that kinda of “punch me in the face i’m so hot” look that is reminiscent of john travolta via Grease (which incidentally i’ve never seen all the way through, thank GOD). you might think i’m joking around here. but i’m NOT. just google anything psychobilly and you’ll see that greaser culture is still alive and well. whether it’s good or bad that it’s creeped into spiderman…well i digress…

haha. I’ve never seen Grease, either. It’s always been all about The Outsiders for me.
