Eternals: Chapter One Intelligent Design
Created by: Jack Kirby
Writer: Neil Gaiman

Inkers: Danny Miki with Tim Townsend

An intelligent design explanation for the Marvel universe? Now thats a new one. I’m sure comic nerds everywhere were on the edge of their seat to find out where the superheros came form, why the existed, and who was behind all of this.  Me, not so much. I just happily went along with the fact that superheros existed, and yipiee, life was simple. Then again this whole Celestials thing only created more questions: who made them? And what are they doing about it?.  Too bad, just could have kept it behind magic and let me jump into a world of ignorant bliss. But of course, none of this really mattered to me, I was more interested in the technology behind the whole issue/idea.

First of all they mentioned the term Googlebomb in the first 5 pages. Automatic kudos to the writer for understanding some basic technobabble.  More interesting to me was the idea of macro circuitry. Giant rocks acting like complex electronic or rocktronic devices in order to power things. If we had that much rock to play around with that would be a sweet idea. I’m already a huge fan of creating water computers, but this would be on such a more massive scale.  That would also help regular people understand whats going on a bit more. Granted repairs might be a bit costly, but who wouldn’t want a giant flying rock machine. It’s totally unappreciated anyway, rock that is. I think we should start using it more. Rock houses, rock office buildings, with rock chairs and rock desks. The lifespan on that crap would be amazing. Maybe just cement to start out with, but I am forseeing some great miniture reversal in the future. And boy are things going to be heavy.
