Don’t worry, repeat posts won’t be a future trend, but I felt bad that I never completed that Mortal Kombat post from a couple of weeks ago. Above is the picture in the back of the book. These are the creators of Mortal Kombat. I was innocently reading the comic and ran right into this. Now, I’m willing to forgive these guys for looking like this because, well, these looks were once fashionable . . . but that’s what I’d like to talk about.

Dear Wil,
It feels lonely here when you don’t post. I can almost see the tumbleweed floating across the field.
In other news, I made my way to a comic store for the first time in a few months. My traveling schedule hasn’t allowed me to buy anything new in ages (hence the Half Price Books trips and adventures down memory lane). The problem with a long time off of reading is that you have no idea what series are where in their timeline and some series you were reading are done. But I picked up a couple good looking issues and a backissue of a mini-series that I thought would be fun to read. I’ll be sure to keep you updated during the week.

P.S. Super Troopers is on Comedy Central right now — it’s really not that funny. I don’t see why everyone likes it so much.
Public Secrets thrown together by Dalton

Wil and I have both been too busy to read today, but I have a quick story you all might enjoy. Last night I was flipping through channels and there was a commercial for some show Tyra Banks does. She was interviewing Jessica Alba and they showed a clip of the upcoming episode. In the clip, Banks asks Alba about her pregnancy and then asks if she can hear the gender of the baby. Alba says no, but Tyra Banks presses on with this lovely quote:
“You can tell me” or something very close to those lines (it was late at night).
Now, is that not the dumbest tactic or what? Oh yeah, this one is totally between me and you. The live studio audience doesn’t mean shit and neither do the millions of viewers across the nation. Surely none of the them will hear you tell me over the microphone and television speakers giving them the urge to tell other people or post it on the internet or tell the chattiest chatty Kathy of all chatty Kathys. SURELY NOT! Yes, Jessica, just between you and me. I’ll make sure to keep it nice and safe in my lockbox.
Sheesh. Some TV personalities drive me nuts.

So in classic style, I picked up this issue of Iron Man/Incredible Hulk only to realize its definitely not a comic book at all, but rather a preview of like 10 other storylines for the Hulk/Iron Man universe. Which is fine I suppose because I have no idea whats going on and need a preview anyway, but this random selection thing is taking its toll.

Oh, and also I suggest that you watch The Incredible Hulk. Pretty good flick.

Excalibur Issue 41
Writers: Scott Lobdell and Dana Moreshead
Penciler: Dave Hoover
After the completely random cliffhanger last week that resulted from the X-Men appearing, I felt it was only necessary to dive into the next issue to see what was going on. Luckily for me, I have a ton of old Excalibur comics stashed away and was able to find this little thinger. You may be happy to hear that this answer to the cliffhanger is just as random as the cliffhanger was in the first place. Randomness was in full swing for this episode of Excalibur and it brewed some pretty random thoughts in my head as a result.

Eternals: Chapter One Intelligent Design
Created by: Jack Kirby
Writer: Neil Gaiman
Penciler: John Romita Jr.
Inkers: Danny Miki with Tim Townsend
An intelligent design explanation for the Marvel universe? Now thats a new one. I’m sure comic nerds everywhere were on the edge of their seat to find out where the superheros came form, why the existed, and who was behind all of this. Me, not so much. I just happily went along with the fact that superheros existed, and yipiee, life was simple. Then again this whole Celestials thing only created more questions: who made them? And what are they doing about it?. Too bad, just could have kept it behind magic and let me jump into a world of ignorant bliss. But of course, none of this really mattered to me, I was more interested in the technology behind the whole issue/idea.

Will it Make Me Angry? thrown together by Dalton

Today I am going to see The Incredible Hulk. Amidst a week of travel, I hardly even knew it was in theaters before a friend of mine started raving about it yesterday. I remember seeing the previews, and while I am excited for the cast (Edward Norton is always excellent; Liv Tyler still remains attractive after what seems to be many many years of acting; Tim Roth was the only good part of Planet of the Apes), I am still slightly skeptical because I tend to be wary of giant CG interacting with human films. Regardless, I’m hoping they can get past that and present a good story, sweet action, etc. At least I’m going for a matinee — maybe I’ll get a discount.

Well then. Coming from the eternal poopfest that was the first two comics I had ever experienced in my life, this was certainly a shocker.
